Meet Ms. Carrique

Hi, I'm Ms. Carrique! Here's a bit about me:

Where I'm from:

I grew up in Waterloo, ON, but I've been living in beautiful Vancouver for 5.5 years.

Where I went to school:

I received my Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and my Bachelor of Education from UBC. I also have a Post-Graduate Certificate in math education from Queen's University.

A few words to describe myself:

Friendly, organized, passionate, patient

Hobbies & interests:

Running, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends

Personal tidbit that's relevant for 2023:

I'm currently pregnant with my first child! My husband & I are very excited. I'll be starting maternity leave this spring, so I plan to finish the year at Spring Break. A different teacher will finish off semester 2 - I promise the students will be left in good hands!

Coaching:

I've been involved with track & field my whole life and it is my passion! I coached the Cross Country team at Magee in the fall, and I was planning to do the track & field team, but since I'll be on leave, I'll miss it this year.

My favourite parts about being a teacher:

I love connecting with students, making math enjoyable & applicable, and helping students realize that everyone can succeed in math.
